This information is for my stepdaughter and her family. After long term unemployment her husband recently went back to work as a trucker. He might bring home around $500 per week. They presently have no health insurance, although she said a New York State program would cover her two younger children. Hi guys, I really need some help. I'm just pricing up car insurance, I currently have a provisional licence and i take my driving test next week, I'm doing insurance quotes for a 2005 volkswagen polo s 55 petrol 3 door Manual car, and I've being looking at prices for provisional drivers and newly passed drivers and the prices are ridiculous. Provisional is coming in at approx 1300, which I can cope with for the year but as soon as I pass my test BAM! prices are looking at about 2,700. I've done everything right according to the advice in the internet, we have a secure garage, off-road parking, during the day it will be kept in a secure office car park. Hi. 18 months ago me and my hubby went bankrupt (long story) and we have had our new car insurance quote from the company we have been with for 12 years. It jumped from 37 to 60 and we were pretty outraged and so have been shopping around. We were told by someone we know that any new insurance companies would do a credit check and that we may be refused insurance or may get pretty high premiums. As I said, we have been with our insurance company for 12 years and have paid on time every month by direct debit for the car insurance and for the home contents and pet one too. So as your premium is affected by your credit score, does this mean we should have let our insurance company know we went bankrupt, when we did back in Nov 2010? Or does it not count as we were already with them? i don't seriously see why we should've HAD to tell them, but I am not a bit worried. I don't want to make a claim and find that they refuse it because we didn't tell them of the bankruptcy!

I have a 2008 Passat and my husband has a 2010 Nissan Sentra. We have used the same car insurance co for years and know the owners/agents well. Before I was paying $255 for my 2003 Jetta and the Nissan and now it shot way up to $283. My husband has some tickets from the past,out of state. And my driving record is so far good. Are we paying too much? Absolutely NO spam or advertisements allowed!

Good/cheap car insurance?

I currently have Farmers Insurance. I'm thinking about switching and trying to find a lower rate. Does anyone have positive or negative feedback about companies like Geico and Progressive? Is there much of a difference between their rates and complanies like State Farm or Farmers? Any suggestions would be helpful!

Decent Car Insurance Info?

Does anyone know of a decent car insurance provider for 18 - 20 year olds -.- I just got quoted 4k for a 1litre CAR that is almost double if not more than double of the 1 litre I would of bought if Insurance companies weren't FUBAR. Does anyone know of cars or car insurance providers that are cheapish like 2000 - 2500 mark. I mean I'm in a 1 litre I'll be topping 80 my acceleration is about 12 seconds -.- So yeah thanks to anyone :)

Here's the real life monthly budget of a 28 year old woman I recently met: Wages +1760 [$10 an hour; full time, no holiday bonus pay] Taxes -250 [Social Security, Medicare and Federal Income Tax] Take Home = 1510 rent 600 [1/2 of shared apartment] car 300 [includes auto insurance and repairs] food 200 [and household supplies] electric 50 [her half] cell ph 50 church 50 clothes 100 [includes makeup, beauty, and entertainment] replacements 165 [primarily for her car = 2,000/yr] {used car replaced about every four years with another used car that is about 6 years old when bought. Monthly costs are 150 for insurance, 50 for gas, and 100 for repairs. She has no auto loan payment.] *** How much does this woman have left to buy health insurance with? *** you're exactly right -- ZERO her employer offers all employees a fine health plan -- at a cost of 700 a month for a single employee [employer contribution is zero]. Is there any way she could possibly afford health insurance? Only if it is free. There is no other way. *** what does this woman do if/when she gets sick? because she works in health care, she aks the doctor who sees her patients while he's at her workplace. he looks at her off the record and writes an Rx if needed. cost = zero plus the Rx. *** Here's the challenge -- how do you pay for her health insurance without raising her taxes?? [She can't afford any higher taxes.] Notice that, aside from her car replacement fund, she has no savings, no retirement plan other than Social Security, and almost no assets. One credit card, zero balance, used once a week on average, always pays it off. *** Dear Congressman: This woman is your uninsured target. She almost literally can't afford to pay anything for health insurance; and certainly can't afford fancy health insurance -- she's just barely making it as is. [She makes too much to be eligible for Medicaid since she has no kids.] What's her plan for a serious illness? Go to the hospital, get admitted, and go bankrupt afterward. She has an older used car and no assets -- nothing to be taken away [her car fund would be emptied for rent and food while she's unable to work]. Tell us how this is going to work -- her employer, btw, is almost bankrupt now, so you can't tax it to provide the health insurance unless you also increase health care reimbursements to providers.
